The Dreaded Clean

Let’s face it: cleaning the oven is universally recognised as a dreaded household chore. It usually involves spending hours on your hands and knees, scrubbing endlessly with abrasive pads. Not to mention breathing in the harsh, choking fumes of store-bought chemical sprays. And even after all that elbow grease, those stubbornly baked-on carbon deposits and hardened grease spots still seem to cling to your oven racks and trays.

But what if we told you that it doesn’t have to be this way? What if your oven could look showroom-new again without a single drop of toxic cleaner entering your kitchen?

At OvenKing, we take the heavy lifting out of oven cleaning by utilising an industry tool: the dip tank. In this post, we are taking you behind the scenes to show you exactly how our dip tank method works, why it’s infinitely superior to traditional scrubbing, and how it delivers that jaw-dropping, sparkling finish every single time.

What Exactly is a Dip Tank?

If you aren’t in the professional cleaning industry, you might have never heard of a dip tank. Simply put, a dip tank is a large, custom-built, electrically heated vat that we mount safely in the back of our service vans.

This tank is filled with a specialised, eco-friendly, non-caustic cleaning solution. We heat the water to near-boiling temperatures (usually around 80°C to 90°C). This combination of extreme heat and professional-grade, bio-degradable cleaning agents creates an incredibly powerful environment for breaking down burnt-on food, heavy grease, and thick carbon deposits.

Because the tank is located out in our van, all the mess, grease, and grime stay completely outside of your home. Your kitchen remains spotless, and your sink isn’t subjected to being scratched up by greasy oven racks.

Our Dip Tank Process: Step-by-Step

How exactly do we use this piece of equipment to resurrect a filthy oven? Here is a behind-the-scenes look at our typical service appointment.

1. Dismantling

When our technician arrives, the first step is to carefully dismantle the interior of your oven. We don’t just wipe around the obvious parts. We remove the oven doors, the glass panels, the side runners, the wire racks, the trays, and even the fan at the back of the oven. If it can be safely removed, it comes out.

2. The Deep Soak

Once all the removable parts are extracted, they are taken outside to our van and submerged directly into the heated dip tank. This is where the magic happens. While we work inside, your racks and trays are left to soak in the boiling, bio-degradable solution. The heat causes the metal to expand ever so slightly, allowing our cleaning agents to penetrate beneath the carbon and literally lift the burnt-on grime away from the surface. What would normally take hours of aggressive scrubbing simply melts away.

3. Tackling the Oven Shell

Whilst the removable parts of the oven are undergoing a deep-clean treatment in the van, our technician returns to your kitchen to tackle the main oven shell. With unobstructed access to the absolute back, roof, and corners of the oven. We use specialised formulas to manually rid your oven of the remaining grease, ensuring the interior walls are perfectly smooth and clean.

4. The Reveal and Reassembly

After a proper soak, we pull the parts out of the dip tank. The transformation is always incredibly satisfying. We rinse them down with fresh water, dry them off, and bring them back into your home. You will notice that the intricate metal wire racks—which are notoriously impossible to clean by hand—are gleaming silver once again. Finally, we reassemble your oven, polish the glass, and leave you with an appliance that looks like it was just delivered from the factory.

Why the Dip Tank Method is Superior

You might be wondering if you can achieve these results yourself with a bit of dedication and a scouring pad. While you can certainly improve a dirty oven by hand, a professional dip tank offers benefits that simply cannot be matched by DIY methods.

  • Zero Toxic Fumes: Store-bought oven cleaners rely on highly caustic chemicals (like sodium hydroxide) that produce choking fumes and can burn your skin. Our dip tank solutions are non-toxic, eco-friendly, and completely safe for your family and pets. You can cook in your oven immediately after we leave.

  • A Mess-Free Home: The dirtiest part of oven cleaning is washing the racks. Doing this in your kitchen sink or bathtub usually results in scratched porcelain, blocked drains, and grease splattered everywhere. The dip tank keeps 100% of that mess outside in our van.

  • Protection for Your Appliance: Aggressive scrubbing with steel wool or wire brushes can easily strip the protective enamel off your oven racks and trays, leading to rust. The dip tank relies on heat and soaking, preserving the integrity and lifespan of your appliance.

  • Total Coverage: A dip tank surrounds the item completely in liquid. It effortlessly gets into the tiny, intricate intersections of wire racks and the curved blades of the extractor fan—places where human fingers and sponges simply cannot reach.
